Today I had a great time at the 100 Black Men National Youth Conference, where teenagers and mentors from all over the country came to show their commitment to the next generation of leaders. I was honored to be asked to speak. I talked about Vision. A few days ago, an acronym for vision came to my mind.Vision- Proverbs 18:29 People perish for lack of vision. God gives us a mental picture of our purpose. We have to pursue it.
Identity- It's hard to know where we are going if we don't know who we are. Not about what we do, but who we are.
Sacrifice- What are we willing to do, or give up to get to our destiny.
Integrity- We can't lose it. Being trustworthy, honest, keeping our word, and just doing what's right can be the difference between the next golden opportunity.Not about what we have, but how we get it.
Obedience- The same way a coach has to be able to trust his/her player on the court to execute, if God can't trust us, He can't elevate us.
Now What?- What are we doing to now prepare to fulfill our VISION? How do you see yourself in 5 years, 10 years?
